About

The Hospitality Newsletter is a daily brief on the global hotel industry, published every morning for the people who run hotels — owners, general managers, revenue managers, operators and the investors behind them.

What we publish

Every morning we review the hospitality trade press and the wider web, weigh what has been reported, and publish the ten to twelve stories that actually matter to someone running a property. Alongside the brief we write our own longer pieces, drawing several publications' reporting together into one fuller account than any of them ran alone — and we say which sources each one came from.

How we choose stories

Stories are weighed on industry impact, how actionable they are, timeliness, and whether they add something new. Where two publications cover the same development we keep the better-sourced one. Press releases, vendor marketing, tourism board promotions and consultancy client alerts are excluded — material published to sell something is not news. Our full editorial policy sets out the detail.

Why it exists

Hospitality is covered well, but it is covered in pieces. A general manager who wants the whole picture has to read half a dozen outlets, most of which write for a slightly different audience. This exists to do that reading and hand back the part that matters, in about five minutes.

How to read it

Attribution

We summarise and synthesise reporting published elsewhere, and we credit and link the original every time. We do not reproduce articles in full. If you want the complete story we send you to the people who reported it — that is the point of the link, not a formality.

Corrections

We will sometimes get something wrong. When we do, tell us and we will fix it on the page. Publishers who believe a summary misrepresents their reporting can write to us and we will amend or remove it. See corrections.

Independence

Nobody pays to appear in the daily brief and coverage is not for sale. If we introduce sponsorship it will be labelled plainly and kept away from what gets published.
